In June of 2012, the S.S. Keewatin returned to Port McNicoll after 46 years away from home (in the loving care of Douglas, Michigan). The whole community showed up to welcome her back.
So far, not many people have had access to the inside of the great luxury vessel. One month later, Huronia Museum was given a special tour by Ships Master Eric Conroy. Our cameras were rolling!
Here we present Part 1 of our tour featuring the car deck, the porter’s office and the grand staircase leading up to the Bridal Suites. And maybe you can get a haircut too, while you’re at it.

Just over a month ago, S.S. Keewatin, the historic luxury cruise ship, returned to Port McNicoll after 46 years amid much fanfare. Recently, Huronia Museum was granted a special tour of the interior of Keewatin, and our cameras were rolling.
During the tour, the Keewatin’s Eric Conroy and Huronia Museum’s own Nahanni Born struck up a spontaneous tune right on the floor of the Flowerpot Lounge.
Beginning next week, Huronia Museum will be posting portions of our tour right here at HuroniaMuseum.com as well as on our Facebook page and YouTube channel. Be sure to check them out!

Not all of the Huronia Museum’s exhibits are within the building itself. There are many outdoor objects on the museum’s grounds that many people might walk or drive right by every day without knowing the full story. Museum director Jamie Hunter fills us in.
