Summer Jam Day Camp

Summer Jam Day Camp Returns!

Once again Huronia Museum is offering our Summer Jam Day Camp.

This year’s camp will be a little different from the way it has operated in the past, but as we ease our way back to “normal” we want to make sure that we do it the right way, and are providing a safe enviroment for both campers and staff.

Summer Jam will operate for 9 weeks, beginning on July 4, and will offer all the fun activities we did in the past.  There will be field trips, swimming, outdoor play, library visits, crafts and more.  However, this year registration will be for full weeks only.  We are not offering day to day registration at this time.

Camp is for ages 6 – 12.  (Due to limited staffing and off-site supervision requirements, we are not able to take any campers under 6 years old this year.)

The cost for camp is $150/week for museum members; $175/week for non-members.  (Discount applies for family memberships only).

$2/day for early drop-off, between 8 and 9.

$1/day for late pick-up, between 4 and 4:30.  4:30 is the latest available pick-up time, as this leaves time for cleaning and disinfecting at the end of each day.

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP

What to bring to camp

Please ensure that your child brings the following items to camp everyday:

  • FACEMASK, there are times and place that may still require them.
  • Hat and Sunscreen (Or make sure to apply to children before camp.  Camp will NOT supply sunscreen)
  • Plenty to Drink (reusable bottles are best, there is always water available for camp)
  • A healthy lunch and snacks

What not to bring to camp

The following items should not be brought to camp

  • Money—Children are not permitted in the store during camp hours
  • Cell Phones, Tablets and Electronic Gaming Devices
  • Toys from home are also not encouraged

Our camp wants to encourage children to play, get exercise and interact with one another.

Due to the large number of allergies, and to ensure the safety of all campers, the Huronia Museum Summer Jam Day Camp is peanut free!

What to wear to camp

Because a majority of our time is spent outside and we are often using materials such as paint or food colouring, we ask that your children dress in play friendly clothing.

  • T-shirts, long or short sleeved
  • Shorts or pants
  • Running shoes, sandals, or flip flops

We also recommend putting your child’s name in any clothing they bring, especially outerwear, towels or anything sent as an extra, as they may get mixed up throughout the day.

Field Trips

On field trip days our campers wear matching shirts to identify them and keep them safe.  ALL campers are required to wear them.

Visiting the Library

Every Friday morning the camp will be walking down to the Midland Public Library.  If your child has his/her own library card, he/she is encouraged to bring it in order to take out any library books.

Swimming at the YMCA

Every Thursday, the camp will be going swimming at the YMCA.  Please ensure that your child has the following items packed with him/her:

  • Towel
  • Swimsuit
  • Plastic Bag
  • Goggles (optional)

Children may also bring their own life jacket to wear if they require one.

  1. I was just looking for information for summer camps.
Also wondering if you are doing a PD day camp on June 3rd?
    Thank you.

    • Yes! We will be offering a P.A. Day Camp on June 3. It will run between 9 AM and 5 PM. The cost is $20 per child. Our main Day Camp page has been updated with more information about PA Day Camp and includes an updated registration form. Hope to see you on June 3!

  2. Summer Jam Day Camp runs from June 29 to September 2, 2011. It runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Early drop-off and pick-up are available. The cost for Summer Jam is $22/day for Huronia Museum members, $24/day for non-members.

      • Hi Melissa
Did you get an answer to this? It’s $22/day. Super hero theme. Every afternoon we go skating next door at the arena. There are a variety of games, crafts and activities. The ages are 5-12, no exceptions. Feel free to call the museum if you have any further questions.

  3. Summer Jam Day Camp runs from June 29 to September 2, 2011. It runs from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Early drop-off and pick-up are available. The cost for Summer Jam Day Camp is $22/day for Huronia Museum members, $24/day for non-members.

  4. Do you have more information on the types of activities that take place during the camp (eg. themes)? Your registration form doesn’t have a spot to put in the dates we are signing our children up for, it would also be beneficial to know what activities take place and when…so we have a better idea of what days to sign our kids of up for. Thank you.

    • We are just putting the finishing touches on the activity calendar, but it should be up in a day or two. I have added field trips to the list of weekly themes. Some we are still waiting on official confirmation, but I have indicated which ones those are.
If there is anything else please let us know.

  29. Do u have to pay for the whole week or just days you want your child to attend.. Be cause I noticed some days are full?

    • The listings you are seeing are in the 2014 version of Summer Camp. Our 2015 Summer camp information will be posted as soon as it is finalized!

Yes you can choose days, you don’t have to send kids for entire weeks, or you can do so if you choose to.

    • Hi Colleen,

Unfortunately we have a programming conflict and will be unable to have a PA Day Camp on the 23rd. We will be having them throughout the year as we are able. I will post information on our website and our facebook page as these camps are coming up, but always feel free to check in with me directly.
