Huronia photo pools on flickr

Huronia photo pool on flickr — I set this up about 9 months ago and it has several members and about 400 photographs. Subject matter is varied: landscape, townscape, events, historic sites, and all kinds of other stuff.

Today I have set up a pool for photos of Historic Huronia on flickr, see: Historic Huronia photo pool. Feel free to join flickr and the pool and post photos.

As I understand it, if you have a rogers.com email account, you automatically have a pro level flickr account (unlimited posting and some other privileges). Non-pro accounts have a 100 photo limit. I think I have those details correct, but check the flickr site to be sure.

I like flickr and have found some very interesting pools. One is Canadian History.

Recent Research Visitors to the HM

A local artist has been visiting the HM’s library to study native spirituality.

Dr. Alicia Hawkins returned some artifact collections that had been borrowed for her research project at Laurentian University. She, along with two graduate students,  have been studying archaeological site locations in Tay and Medonte townships for possible testing and excavation.

First Film of the new season August 29th

This Wednesday, August 29th, is our special screening of Michael Moore’s Sicko, a documentary film examining the American health care system. The film starts at 7:00 at the Galaxy Cinema in Midland, but we are having a reception that starts at 6:00 at the Galaxy as well.

Keep in mind that this film is not covered by your subscriber pass, so if you don’t have your ticket yet, make sure to pick one up.

I will have subscription forms at the theatre for anyone who has not yet bought their pass, you can fill these out right a way or just bring it back with you for the first film on September 12th. If you have already purchased your pass, I will be mailing them out on Friday, so you should get them next week. Anyone who buys their pass after Friday, that is September 1st, will be able to pick theirs up at the theatre on the 12th.

I think that about covers everything so far, so if you have any questions please contact me here at the Museum, otherwise I will see you on Wednesday.
