Land Acknowledgement

Huronia Museum recognizes that it is situated on the ancestral territory of the Anishinaabek Nations: the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Pottawatomi, the Three Fires Confederacy. Huronia Museum is dedicated to honouring Indigenous history and culture and is committed to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation and respect with all First Nation, Métis and Inuit people.
We would also acknowledge the enduring presence of the Indigenous Peoples of this region, specifically, the Chippewa Tri–Council First Nations comprised of the Beausoleil First Nation, the Chippewas of Rama, and the Chippewas of Georgina Island. We also acknowledge the Moose Deer Point First Nation, the Wahta Mohawks, the Georgian Bay and Moon River Métis Councils in this region.
As a museum, we also honour the history of the Wendat and the Haudenosaunee Nations who have also walked on this territory over time.
