Huronia Museum is pleased to be hosting another exhibit by contemporary artist, Timothy D. Mohan.  This exhibit opens on Friday, October 28th, at 7:00 pm in the museum’s auditorium and will be available to the public until November 17th.

A message from the artist…

The exhibition titled “Wise Up” consists of 20 original paintings by contemporary artist Timothy D. Mohan.  The paintings were created as a means to show the horrors of war, plain, simple and to the point.

As a Canadian I shared many freedoms and privileges due to the sacrifices of men and women that served in the armed forces. This show is not about religion, creed or industrial might.  It’s not to pass judgment on any political party, person or belief.  It’s about injustice.  Fighting and dying for a belief, right or wrong.

My family has a long tradition of serving in the armed forces.  From the Boer War, the Fall of Hong Kong, WWII European campaigns, the Korean War and peacetime actions.  So many young individuals left their homes, families and loved ones to fight ternary, to bring justice to those that could not defend themselves.

So many had died on foreign shores and with them their hopes and dreams of a better future.  We sometimes forget that if not for these individuals we would lack the fundamental freedoms that we all should cherish.  Their sacrifice made the hopes and dreams a reality for the future generations that followed.

Their sacrifice was the precious gift of freedom.  To unite as a people and stand guard over the innocent and repressed.  Their gift is this beautiful world of endless possibilities that we all live in and share.
