Stamp Collection donated to HM by Jo-Ann Knicely

For over forty years Jo-Ann Knicely has been collecting stamps, primarily Canadian ones with a heavy emphasis on the Victorian era.  Among the gems:

  • 1851, first stamp in Canada, the three pence beaver
  • First Canadian Christmas stamp 1898
  • 1865 Dunnville, Ontario cover, has a Prince Albert 10 cent stamp, an expensive stamp for the time and therefore an important letter

The collection has over 500 stamps with an emphasis on stamps from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland.

Jo-Ann’s new area of collecting interest is Canadian law stamps.
