The Midland Shipyard was a busy place during World War Two, having been commissioned to build Corvettes and Fairmiles for the Royal Canadian Navy, the Royal Navy and the British government.
George Allen King of Toronto served on the H.M.C.S. Midland during the war and we are fortunate to have dozens of his photos, documenting life onboard the ship. This one is of an unidentified sailor asleep on the deck. The announcement appeared in a January 1941 edition of the Midland Free Press.
