Just passing along a few Free Press negatives that I scanned a while back. I just came across the story on microfim. The team is from Christian Island. It was the First Annual Inter Reserve Georgian Bay District Men’s Hockey Tournament. It was held in Elmvale. This was back in 1973. Rev. Len Self who is in the pic was the organizer. (I believe he was a Midlander and was quite involved in hockey)

  1. Christian Island lost their first game but then won their second game against Saugeen to earn a spot in the consolation final where they played Rama Reserve and lost 5-3.
A powerful team from Parry Island swept through the tournament with relative ease beating a hapless Saugeen team 12-1 in the second of the six game tournament and then swept aside Cape Croker 13-0 in the championship final.
