night watchman watch clock, Simcoe Elevator

Recent donation to the HM by Mike Bourrie:  watch clock and watch clock station used at the Simcoe Elevator in Midland. The watch clock had to be wound each Saturday.  The guard would move to various watch stations throughout the elevator and key in on a time schedule.  The key activated a record in the watch clock.  Mike Bourrie worked at the elevator from 1966 to Feb. 1994 when the elevator was torn down.

Ivan Kocis

Kocis came to Canada in 1956 from Hungary. He became interested in native history. Over several years he painted historically accurate depictions of Huron culture and life based on the archaelogical evidence. He passed away in 2008. HM has several of his works in its collection.
