Footnote – Film Series Gala Presentation May 16, 2012

Huronia Museum Film Series presents its gala celebration on May 16, 2012 with a showing of the film Footnote.  Screenings will be at 4:30PM and 7:30PM at the Galaxy Cinemas in Midland, ON.

From Huronia Museum director Jamie Hunter:

On Wednesday, May 16, Huronia Museum Film Series presents our annual gala reception from 5:45 PM to 7:00 PM.  The 4:30 film showing will go on as planned and the 7:30 showing will go on as planned.  In between the two films the series will offer complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beer/wine in appreciation for our wonderful film series this season.  In addition, we will have Ms. Janet Robinson of the Ontario Film Review Board talk about what the Film Review Board does.  Janet’s talk will be at 7:00 PM sharp.  This should be an insightful description of how our films are rated and what the board does in supporting films shown in Ontario.

The film Footnote was nominated for an Oscar and has won 12 awards and 5 nominations at festivals worldwide.  It is a story about a father and son both of whom are academic rivals in Talmudic studies.  When the father is to be awarded a prize for his life’s work, the family relationship reaches a new peak.

The film is rated PG, has a running time of 103 minutes and was released May 25, 2011 in Israel as a drama.  It’s an interesting film and rates 82/100 from various sources and features director/writer Joseph Cedar and stars Shlomo Bar-Aba, Lior Ashkenazi and Aliza Rosen.

Second Annual Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt

Well we are trying it again.  Last year Huronia Museum made its first attempt at holding an Easter event.  We came up with something new and unique, putting a twist on a classic.  We excited and planned everything down to the last detail, at least that’s what we thought!

Turns out we completely underestimated the demand for glow in the dark Easter events.  To say that the response was overwhelming would be a huge understatement.  We had nearly triple the expected number of participants and we at a bit of a loss as to how to handle them.  That said, we learned a few valuable lessons and have regrouped older, wiser and with a much better plan.

So please come out and join us for the second annual Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 from 1 PM to 3 PM.  Admission is $1 per participant and a non perishable food item for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
