There are many volunteer opportunities at Huronia Museum, and we always have room for one more volunteer. Here is a list of some of the current opportunities:
- BINGO!!!!!! We always need BINGO volunteers. By volunteering at the Angelgate Bingo and Gaming Centre for 2 hours a month, the museum receives a portion of the gaming proceeds to help with operational costs. It is nice to work with lights on! Especially since there are no windows in the building
- Collections This is one of our most popular volunteer opportunities. The museum started collecting artifacts to tell North Simcoe’s story in 1947 and we have a significant collection and it consistently grows thanks to the generous donations of artifacts from our communities. We always need assistance cataloguing artifacts.
- Village and Museum Maintenance. Our Facility Manager has a great team of volunteers but can always use another pair of hands. Volunteering in the village can be a lot of fun and a great learning experience. We are always installing new things at the museum, painting exhibit halls and keeping up with the gardens. Another volunteer in this department is always welcome.
- Film SeriesHuronia Museum is the local host of the TIFF Film Series. We bring in films currently in the TIFF film circuit that might only be available normally in larger urban centres. Our films show on select Wednesday evenings at the Galaxy Cinema in Midland. Volunteers can expect to take tickets, hand out booklets or prizes, fold brochures, or package up tickets for sale.
- Fundraising activities: The museum hosts several fundraising events throughout the year. Volunteers can volunteer to work on a fundraising project for a few months until the event occurs or they may just volunteer the day of the event. This is a great opportunity to put organizational skills to work for our museum.
If you are interested in volunteering with us, please fill out the form below, and someone from our staff will contact you soon. Try to let us know where your interests may lie and what your availability may be as a volunteer. We would love to hear from you and look forward to getting to know you!
